  1. Introduction

On August 8, 2025, the Women’s Federation for World Peace–Philippines (WFWP-Philippines) conducted a webinar titled “Gender Equality: Workplace Fairness for Men and Women.” The event was held from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM via the Zoom platform and livestreamed on Facebook, with a total of approximately 200 participants joining across both platforms.

This initiative aimed to raise awareness and deepen understanding of gender equality and equity in the workplace, especially within the Philippine context. The webinar brought together educators, students, professionals, and advocates to engage in meaningful discourse around policies, practices, and strategies that promote fairness for all genders in professional environments.

    II..Resource Speakers

The webinar featured two distinguished speakers from the University of Rizal System – Antipolo Campus:

Dr. Marites M. Rio

Dr. Wilhelmina P. Masinsin

Both are respected educators and advocates of gender sensitivity and inclusive education. They are also recognized as Global Peace Women Network (GPWN) ambassadors, actively promoting the role of women in peacebuilding and societal development.

The speakers shared valuable insights on the following key areas:

  • Emphasized the importance of fair treatment and non-discrimination in professional settings, regardless of gender.
  • Understanding Diverse Perspectives
  • Discussed how recognizing the unique experiences, needs, and viewpoints of men, women, and gender-diverse individuals leads to more inclusive work environments.
  • Legal Frameworks Supporting Gender Equality
  • Covered the Magna Carta of Women, Anti-Sexual Harassment Law, and the Safe Spaces Act, highlighting their role in protecting rights and promoting equality in the workplace.
  • Strategies for Workplace Equity

Offered practical recommendations such as avoiding cognitive biases in hiring and evaluation, creating transparent policies, and providing flexible work arrangements to meet diverse needs.

The discussions were informative and empowering, equipping participants with both knowledge and motivation to advocate for gender-sensitive practices in their respective fields.

      IV. Open Forum

Following the lectures, an open forum was held where participants had the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and clarify points raised by the speakers. This segment allowed for dynamic interaction and encouraged reflection on how gender equality principles could be applied in different professional and community settings.

       V. Moderator and Facilitation

The program was smoothly facilitated by Mrs. Anunciacion Prospero, a retired Head Officer of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental. Her experience in social welfare and public service added depth and context to the discussions.

          VI. Conclusion

The webinar concluded with a call to action for leaders, educators, advocates, and community members to work collaboratively in fostering inclusive and equitable workplaces. The speakers emphasized that promoting gender equality is not only a matter of compliance but a vital step toward a just and empowered society.
