The “Empowered Women, Healthier Communities” Seminar and Blood Letting Activity was successfully conducted on March 16, 2026 ,at the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) – Manila. The event was organized by the Women’s Federation for World Peace – Philippines, in collaboration with the College of Liberal Arts and the Department of Physical Education of TUP Manila, the International Association of Youth and Students for Peace – Pilipinas, and Medical Center Manila. It gathered students, faculty members, university personnel, and partner organizations in a unified effort to promote health awareness and community service.
The activity combined an educational seminar and a blood donation drive, focusing on raising awareness about voluntary blood donation, HIV prevention, and responsible decision-making among the youth. The seminar featured expert speakers, including Dr. Rey Hikaru Estoce and Dr. Reiko Helenjane Arellano, who delivered a comprehensive discussion on HIV awareness and prevention. Mr. Jun Young Teves further contributed by discussing values formation and the importance of integrity, responsibility, and purpose among young individuals. The sessions provided both scientific knowledge and practical life guidance, addressing the growing concern of HIV cases among the youth sector.
The event took place within the TUP Manila campus, with the seminar conducted for approximately 80 participants, primarily students enrolled in Physical Education classes along with faculty members. Simultaneously, the blood donation drive was held at the College of Liberal Arts lobby from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, allowing students, faculty, and university personnel to participate throughout the day. A total of 100 individuals joined the blood donation activity, with 97% comprising students and 3% faculty and personnel, demonstrating strong youth engagement supported by the academic community.
The activity aimed to educate and empower participants by providing accurate information on HIV prevention, promoting responsible lifestyle choices, and encouraging voluntary blood donation as a life-saving practice. It emphasized that maintaining good health not only benefits individuals but also enables them to become active contributors to society. By integrating education with service, the program reinforced the importance of informed decision-making and compassion-driven action among the youth.
The program was implemented through a structured approach, beginning with the seminar sessions followed by the ongoing blood donation activity. Participants engaged in interactive discussions, gained new insights, and were given the opportunity to immediately apply their learning through participation in the blood donation drive.
The activity demonstrated the significant impact of combining education and service in promoting holistic community development. Participants expressed appreciation for the informative discussions, particularly in correcting misconceptions about HIV transmission and emphasizing the importance of purpose-driven living. The event strengthened awareness, encouraged responsible choices, and inspired continued participation in health-related and humanitarian initiatives. It also established a strong foundation for future collaborations with academic institutions to further expand outreach programs that empower the youth and promote healthier communities.
