Over several months, our second-generation youths, Sis Jia Yue and Sis Chwen Yeu from the Youth Outreach Department, played a meaningful role in coordinating the planning and execution of the 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner, organised by the local Youth NGO they serve alongside.
On 13 September 2025, the Federation of Youth Clubs (FYC) held its 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner at Happy Joy Restaurant in Hotel Royal. The event celebrated FYC’s legacy, honoured 75 years of contributions by members, volunteers and partners, and raised funds for youth development. Internally, the Youth Outreach Department also sought to strengthen trust and relationships with VIPs and partners who support FYC’s mission of nurturing righteous youths to become responsible contributors to society and the future. Attendees included VIP guests, alumni, volunteers, and friends of FYC.
The evening opened with a warm welcome at the reception by our second-generation youths and volunteer staff. Guests were ushered in to the accompaniment of light music and given time to mingle before the programme commenced. Opening remarks by Mr Bernard Sim set a celebratory and reflective tone for the night, followed by a commemorative video presentation showcasing FYC’s enduring legacy and impact on youth development across the nation. The Guest of Honour, Mr Seng Han Thong, former Member of Parliament, then delivered the keynote address, expressing appreciation for FYC’s past contributions and offering words of inspiration for the future, after which he was presented with a meaningful calligraphy as token of appreciation.
This set the stage for the Awards and Recognition segment, where Donor Awards and Service Recognition Awards were presented to honour outstanding individuals for their dedication and contributions. Two grassroot youth networks that FYC had previously engaged in community project collaborations were also invited to receive awards, acknowledging their efforts and encouraging future partnerships.
Adding to the celebratory mood, guests enjoyed cultural and artistic performances throughout the dinner, including a Ba Duan Jin demonstration and a traditional Hulusi musical performance. These not only entertained but also enriched the evening with cultural depth. Another highlight was the Cake-Cutting Ceremony where the VIPs were invited up on stage to cut the cake and everyone joined in singing a celebratory song to mark FYC’s 75 years of growth and service.
One of the most symbolic moments of the night was the Legacy Light Ceremony. In this segment, FYC elders passed the “Legacy Light” to youth representatives, symbolising the continuity of FYC’s mission and values and giving hope for future generations. The audience joined in by lighting their phone torches, creating a powerful and memorable atmosphere of unity.
The 75th Anniversary Gala Dinner was a fitting milestone celebration — blending reflection, recognition, and fundraising. It left a lasting impression on all who attended, reinforcing FYC’s commitment to nurturing morally upright youths of good character who will contribute to society for generations to come. The event concluded with a group photo to capture this special Diamond Jubilee.
